Top 10 Tunes of 2008!

So, we have reached that time of year when everyone starts planning their new years eve, building it up as the greatest night of all time! Only to then spend midnight on the tube / looking after your mate who has peaked far, far too early or in a club where whilst you're queueing for the toilet it seems as if time, has in fact come to a halt.
As it's that time of year we have decided to post our top 10 tunes of 2008.
So enjoy and let us know any tracks you think should have made the cut.

In no particular order:

1. Late of the Pier - Heartbeat (Hot Chip Remix)

2008 has seen the first signs of mainstream breakthrough for Late of the Pier. Their album "Fantasy Black Channel" was met by critical acclaim and 2009 promises to be huge for these boys. Hot Chip have also been on top of their game this year, coming out with seemingly almost daily remixes. Their touch on this tune gives it an epic feel which when dropped at the right time in a set can send the crowd into a mass hysteria.

2. Digitalism - Home Zone (Proxy Remix)

Moscow's finest reworks this Digitalism classic giving it that extra little punch and dirty rave quality that makes those sweaty underground basement clubs feel like home.

3. ZZT - The Worm (Erol Alkan Edit)

This was probably the most anticipated song of the year (behind Soulwax's remix of Kids) after Erol posted it as his top tune month after month without anyone being able to hold of it, and although it has not quite lived up to the hype, it is still a banging tune that gets any dancefloor shaking.

4. The Presets - This Boy's In Love (Lifelike Remix)

French producer Lifelike has been on fire this year and pretty much everything he touches at the moment turns to gold. Still, our favourite has been his remix of Aussie favourites "The Presets" which has the synths to make your hairs stand on end over and over again.

5. Kidda - Under the Sun (Herve Remix)

Kidda has taken us back to those early house vocals which we all know and love, and then brought Herve along to add some crunching drops and breaks which combines to form a partnership worthy of our top 10.

6. Fake Blood - Mars

Possibly THE tune of the year, by the UK's biggest talent Fake Blood. If you don't know this I don't know where you've been!

7. The Proxy - Raven

Proxy is defining his own sound and should blow us all away with an album coming early in 2009. No track better defines what he is about than this, it's dirty and we love it!

8. Mr Oizo - Positif

Lamb's Anger has just been released this week and in our opinion was well worth the wait. Although this, and others from the album have been circulating for a while now it has somehow retained its impact and those french vocals get us going everytime.

9. Hot Chip - Touch Too Much (Fake Blood Remix)

Our second entry from man of the moment Fake Blood and yet again he delivers a dancefloor banger rework of a Hot Chip classic.

10. Tiga - Mind Dimension 2

Montreal's finest has been away for a while but is back and with the help of Erol Alkan his new material is going down a storm ,and if this is only a taste of things to come then we are surely in for a bit more mind dimension.

The First Smile

So, we are the latest in a long line of blogspots giving you your electronic fix. However, the difference with The Naked Smiles Club is, first of all that we will be posting only the best music, none of the endless mediocre uploads that surface on so many blogs.

Secondly we are a brand, and run club nights in London which we will be giving out information on when and where they are taking place.

Finally, we will try not to bore you with pretentious essays about how this new tune is hot because it fits in with the latest scene and will simply focus on good music, both new AND old.

So remember:

No Fake Smiles

No Cheap Smiles

No Forced Smiles

Just Nak:-D Smiles
